Gabriel Jesus won’t be 33 anymore
Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus will no longer wear the number 33 shirt at the Etihad Stadium.
Jesus has been wearing the number 33 jersey since his arrival from Palmeiras in 2017.
Gabriel Jesus will wear Man City’s number 9 shirt
Man City have confirmed this weekend that Gabriel Jesus will wear club’s number 9 shirt in 2019-20.
The number 9 shirt was left vacant last season.
Indeed, the last player to wear the Man City #9 was Spanish forward Nolito.
Let’s just fix that…. Ah, there we go! 😉

Why Gabriel Jesus is switching numbers
According to the Manchester Evening News, Jesus has made the change because “the club has persuaded him to take up the iconic striker’s digit”.
On Man City’s website, the club explained the following:
The Brazilian striker chose the No.33 shirt when he first joined the Club in 2017 and has scored 45 goals in the 100 appearances he’s made for the Blues in that number.
The striker also gave the following quotes:
I hope to score many goals wearing this jersey and help City to more trophies in the coming seasons.
It’s the number I wear with Brazil and as always, I’ll be giving everything for City when I’m wearing it.
Reading between the lines, the number change indicates a greater role for Gabriel Jesus in 2019-20.
Last season, the Brazilian played second fiddle to Sergio Aguero in the pecking order.
The 22-year-old remains under contract until 2023.
Last season Jesus scored 21 goals in 47 Man City games in all competitions.
